HEY FOLKS, SHY FOX HERE!

We are currently hard at work on our next batch of Twin Peaks recaps, a new Lynch's Log, and the next mainline FYHOD. In the meantime, we present to you a special BONUS episode from our alternate-universe archives.

In this other universe, I hosted a show called "The Dead Pixels Podcast" with a friend I met in the Sterling/Jonathan "Shattered" community. This show aimed to find the best qualities of bad and underrated games, and find out what made them special even if the end-result was less-than-ideal. In this decade-old episode, we covered one of my favorite overlooked gems: Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon for the Nintendo 64.

This bizarre Japanese period piece featured very early Mario/Zelda hybrid gameplay, along with an incredible soundtrack, served alongside a heaping helping of wacky, borderline-surreal humor. It's truly a peculiar feast for particular senses, and I encourage all of you to check it out, or at least load up that soundtrack on YouTube.

David Keith Lynch departed this earthly theater of the absurd a year ago today. Fox and Laura celebrate his profound influence on their lives by doing one of his favorite things: reporting on the local weather.

The FYHOD friends then talk at length about how connecting with Lynch's work has kept them insanely sane despite the awfulness of 2025, and how they feel more connected to him--and by proxy the moon--than ever.

Over the course of 30 years, Z-list podcaster Shy Fox heard his favorite video games, movies, and television shows constantly compared to Twin Peaks, and was always intrigued. Then in 2024 he finally watched the show for the first time, finishing its final season just in time to join the world in mourning Lynch's January 2025 passing.

Now he is on a quest to both discover and revisit the HUNDREDS of pieces of pop-culture that have been unfathomably changed by the far-reaching influence of Twin Peaks and its creators, so he can help other newcomers discover what makes it special.

Is there still value to be had in a movie that David Lynch disavows, even after 41 years and 2 more faithful adaptations of the book? Did the spectacular shield special effects predict the mind-boggling graphics of Nintendo 64? And is Thufir Hawat still milking space cats to this very day?
