In January 2008, 21 year old mother of 2, Denise Amber Lee vanished from her home in North Port, Florida, in broad daylight... leaving behind her phone, keys, purse… and 2 young children alone inside the house.
Across town, a terrified woman secretly dialled 911 from inside a moving car, whispering clues, begging to go home to her children, while pretending to speak normally so her abductor wouldn’t realise she was calling for help. Minutes later, another witness reported seeing what looked like a child being kidnapped from a passing green Camaro.
But despite multiple 911 calls, eyewitness information, and opportunities to intervene… something went catastrophically wrong.

In February 1977, a routine morning at a mortgage office in downtown Indianapolis would erupt into one of the most chilling hostage situations ever captured on camera.

What began as a dispute over land, debt, and frustration between a borrower and a mortgage company quickly spiralled into something far more dangerous… when Tony Kiritsis walked into Meridian Mortgage armed, prepared, and carrying something he called a “Dead Man’s Line.”

What followed was a 63-hour standoff that unfolded in plain sight. Through office hallways, across city streets, and eventually into the heart of downtown Indianapolis - all while a terrified hostage was forced to stay inches away from a loaded weapon rigged with a homemade trigger mechanism designed to fire if anything went wrong.

Police followed closely behind, but every attempt to intervene risked turning a hostage situation into an instant execution. News crews arrived quickly, and what they captured would turn this case into something almost unthinkable… a real-time crisis broadcast as it unfolded.

As negotiations broke down and demands escalated, the situation stretched far beyond a simple hostage crisis. It became a moving standoff across the city, with escalating tension, public confrontation, and moments where one wrong step could have changed everything in an instant...

In December 1991, 4 teenage girls - Jennifer Harbison, Sarah Harbison, Amy Ayers, and Eliza Thomas - were brutally murdered inside an Austin yogurt shop after closing time, in one of the most horrifying crimes in Texas history. Bound, shot execution-style, sexually assaulted, and left inside a store deliberately set on fire, the case shocked the nation and launched a decades-long investigation filled with controversy, mistakes, and unanswered questions.
Police eventually arrested 4 young men, with 2, Michael Scott and Robert Springsteen, convicted after giving confessions they later claimed were coerced. As forensic insight, conflicting evidence, and allegations of aggressive interrogation tactics came to light, the case began to unravel.
Over 30 years after the murders, advances in DNA technology identified an entirely different suspect: a violent serial offender who was connected to sexual assaults, murders, home invasions, and a trail of violence across multiple states.
