TEEN ATHLETE SERIES: The concussion questions that keep us up at night

    09/06/2026 | 36 mins.
If you're anything like us, when you're watching your child playing a contact sport from the sidelines, concussion is something that you'll have in the back of your mind. To make sure you have all the information you need, this week we're talking to Dr David Hughes - AIS Chief Medical Officer and the Chair of the Australian Olympic Committee Medical Commission. He takes us through it all - head injury vs concussion, the way concussion can happen (it's not just a head hitting something), symptoms, and the evidence around when to play and when to sit it out. We promise you'll learn something - we sure did!
For the most up to date information on concussion, head to www.ausport.gov.au/concussion
PS Sporties - if you'd like to learn the Active Industries First Start Traineeship Program ($20k to bring on a staff member for your club? Yes please!) head to Active Queenslanders Industry Alliance.

TEEN ATHLETE SERIES: Food and Sport with Sports Dietitian Ali Miles

    02/06/2026 | 42 mins.
Do you have a child or teen playing sport in your household? Then this series is for you! We know that families are busy, that the school year is racing by, and it's hard to find time to source the experts. So we've brought together some of Australia's brightest minds to talk about the issues that impact sport loving families, and give you some easy tips to help everyone stay playing.
Our first guest is Accredited Practising Dietitian, Advanced Sports Dietitian and founder of The Fuel School, Ali Miles. Ali works with every type of athlete - from the elite winter Olympians (like Scotty James) and Paralympians, to elite netball teams (hello Sunshine Coast Lightning) to teens who play lots of sports to kids just trying to eat a better lunchbox. This is not just a conversation for teens on performance pathways - if you have a teen or child who has a lunchbox or fights with you about breakfast (surely it's not just us?), you need to tune in.
PS Sporties - if you'd like to learn the Active Industries First Start Traineeship Program ($20k to bring on a staff member for your club? Yes please!) head to Active Queenslanders Industry Alliance.

    An emergency Enhanced Games debrief

    26/05/2026 | 35 mins.
The Enhanced Games happened this week and do we/Libby have thoughts. Bottom line? It actually did sport a great service. Maybe we're saying thank you this whole circus? We'll get back to you on that. Libby is being honest about her sideline feelings (she's only human) and Georgie has gone off one sports documentary but found another. Come join us (and tell us all your thoughts about Enhanced Games!).

parkrun's Tim Oberg is ready to help get kids running

    19/05/2026 | 29 mins.
Do you know the story of how parkrun ended up in Australia? Or that dogs used to be registered to run? Or that Australia has made it our own? Neither did we until we caught up with parkrun Australian's founder, Tim Oberg. Tim was the person who brought largest free running activity to Australia and grew it to what it is today. And now he's ready to help kids find a love of moving their body through the RAD Run Club.
On any given Saturday morning, around 6000 Australians volunteer to ensure parkrun runs smoothly and we would like to shout out this amazing community contribution this National Volunteers Week. Thank you for being the heart and soul of this regular cultural event.

    A wake-up call for Australian women's sport

    12/05/2026 | 29 mins.
The ABC and Deakin University recently released the findings of a survey of elite female athletes and the results say a lot about the work still to be done in women's sport. In some parts, there seems to be progress. In others, the results are grim. Regardless, we wanted to bring in the ABC's Deputy Editor Amanda Shalala to unpack the numbers for us and remind us why these sorts of surveys are so important in the women's sport landscape.
