OVER the 114-race history of the Australian Super Touring Championship,
only 10 drivers stood on the top step of the podium.

There were some big names in that list, including Jim Richards, Tony Longhurst, Paul Morris, Brad Jones, Steven Richards and Cameron McConville.

One often-overlooked driver is Jim Cornish, who claimed victory at Wakefield Park in 2001, in a season otherwise dominated by Morris.

This is the story of an underdog veterinarian who stepped up from Club Cars to be on the Bathurst 1000 grid in the space of a year.

He has slipped away from the sport in recent years, but V8 Sleuth Aaron Noonan has tracked him down to explore an interesting period in
the sport.
