V8 Sleuth Aaron Noonan chats one-on-one with icons of Australian motorsport. Along with the big wins and the big moments, Noonz digs a step deeper and unearths ...
This week’s V8 Sleuth Podcast guest might be better known for their voice than their name, having played a key role in Bathurst 1000 broadcasts and Channel 7’s touring car racing coverage through the mid-1980s and 1990s.
Englishman Richard Hay was in Australia recently and caught up with Noonz to chat about his memories of Mount Panorama, working under Mike Raymond and alongside the likes of Garry Wilkinson, Neil Crompton and Doug Mulray. He also talks about how his father Neville became involved in motorsport commentary and how that in-turn led him to being a cameraman, commentator, producer and presenter across his career in motorsport media.
He also shares some fun tales from his time as a racer himself, including taking part in the Le Mans 24 Hours!

V8SP Mini: The darkest point of David Reynolds’ career
This week’s ‘Mini’ edition of the V8 Sleuth Podcast comes from our chat with David Reynolds almost exactly five years ago in March 2020, when he visited Sleuth HQ with his chauffeur for the day - future Supercars champ (and his then enduro co-driver) Will Brown!
In this snippet, Reynolds opened up on a very serious topic: a tragic tarmac rally accident from the early part of his career.
Two weeks after securing the 2007 Australian Carrera Cup Championship, Reynolds was competing in the Mount Buller Sprint with navigator Paul Flintoft.
Their Elfin MS8 Clubman spun off the road and crashed down a 20 metre cliff, killing Flintoft and leaving Reynolds with head injuries.
