Star Wars: Episode X is reportedly moving forward — and the Skywalker Saga isn't over! Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts is set to direct the first movie in a brand-new Star Wars trilogy, with Rey expected to return as Lucasfilm continues the story beyond The Rise of Skywalker.
On today's Kristian Harloff Show, we break down this potentially massive development for the future of Star Wars. Is continuing the Skywalker Saga the right move? What happened to the previously discussed Rey/New Jedi Order movie? And is Jon Watts the filmmaker who can successfully launch the next era of Star Wars on the big screen?
After directing Tom Holland's Spider-Man trilogy for Marvel Studios and Sony, Watts taking on Star Wars: Episode X would be a major move. But after the divisive response to the sequel trilogy, does Lucasfilm need Episode X — or should Star Wars finally leave the Skywalker Saga behind and focus on completely new characters and eras?
We're also talking about the absolutely massive performance of Avengers: Endgame Encore. The re-release reportedly earned $86 million worldwide, including $26 million domestically and $60 million internationally. On today's Kristian Harloff Show, we discuss the latest X-Men casting rumors, whether Elle Fanning would be a good choice for Mystique, and how Marvel Studios' new mutant roster is beginning to come together. The Batman Part II is apparently going in a VERY different direction.
