In this episode, I sit down with Craig Castree - an award-winning horticulturist, author, educator and longtime voice in the world of edible gardening, with more than four decades of experience helping people grow food in a more practical, regenerative and connected way. Craig’s work centres around organic food growing, soil health, edible gardens, and teaching people how to create productive spaces at home that actually work in real life.

This was a really enjoyable conversation, because Craig brings that mix of deep experience and simple, no-nonsense wisdom that only comes from a lifetime of doing the work. We spoke about growing food in a way that’s healthier, more resilient and more in tune with how nature already operates, and why good gardening so often comes back to understanding the soil, slowing down, and getting the fundamentals right. His broader approach blends horticulture with regenerative ideas and backyard food growing in a very accessible way.

In this episode I sat down with Conan Moynihan from Groundshift, an agribusiness coach who’s doing a lot of work helping farmers build stronger, more resilient systems by working with nature instead of constantly fighting against it.

We spoke about soil, biology, farm performance, mindset, profitability, and the bigger shift that needs to happen in agriculture if we want to create systems that are actually sustainable in the true sense of the word. Conan brings both lived experience and a really thoughtful perspective to the conversation, so his message is meaningful.

A really solid episode for anyone interested in soil health, regenerative agriculture, and the deeper thinking behind where farming and food systems could be heading.

Wow what a fun episode this week with the incredible Mickey Pascoe from Little Acre Gourmet Mushrooms. Little Acre is responsible for bringing easy to use home starter kits for consumers to grow their own medicinal mushrooms at home (eg. lions mane, reishi, shitake, turkey tail etc).

Mickey and Amy have personally grown tonnes and tonnes of mushrooms and dedicated the last 7 years of their lives to becoming experts in this field. They have honed their craft, sought knowledge and training from overseas and toured facilities globally.

In this conversation we spoke not only about some of the ways in which you can get into growing your own amazing mushrooms, but the ways in which they are incredible for your health and how you can use them. We also touched on some of the industry difficulties faced recently around poisoning events and what that meant for mushroom growers.
