In this episode of The Shed Organics Show, I sit down with Matt Haggerty from Prospect Pastural & Natural Intelligence Farming to explore what happens when we stop trying to control nature and start paying closer attention to the intelligence already built into living systems.

We talk about soil, plants, microbes, grazing, observation and the relationships that connect them all, as well as the ways modern agriculture can sometimes overlook the incredible complexity of the ecosystems we’re working within.

Matt shares his perspective on Natural Intelligence Farming, what he has learned from observing these systems in practice, and why developing the ability to read the landscape may be just as important as the techniques we use to manage it.

This week we have the lead citizen mycologist from the organisation 'We Forest Earth' Pierre here to share his stories and insights! This mans knowledge is incredible and I am super grateful to have had the chance to sit down with him.

We spoke about how he is leading the charge in a new way of regnerating bushland. Not only one that takes out the woody weed species like camphor laurel that have taken over landscapes... but also providing a viable food or medicine crop from the resulting decomposing material.

A monster episode for anyone into ways of working with land, understanding natural sequences and the future of community resilience long term.

In this episode, I’m joined by Liam Kleyn from Grolia, to talk about something that sounds simple in theory but can be surprisingly difficult in practice: growing mushrooms at home.

We talk about why mushroom growing can be so frustrating for the average person, what Liam saw as the opportunity to make the process much simpler, and the thinking behind the new 'Flush' machine Grolia has developed to bring mushroom growing into the home.

But there’s a lot more to it than just designing a machine. Liam takes me through the process of developing the idea, building prototypes, manufacturing it, and figuring out how to make something practical, functional and good enough to actually sit in someone’s kitchen.

It’s a really interesting look at what happens when you take something that has traditionally been a little complicated and try to redesign the entire experience around making it accessible to everyday people.

Today on the show I am joined by Will Brinkerhoff, a soil scientist and chef who is helping highlight the link between beautiful regeneratively grown produce, soil quality, and the taste of the food itself.

I loved getting to find out what it is like to cook with produce that is grown in the best ways possible, focusing on soil health, vitality, and regenerating the land alongside it... as well as what Will has been studying in his PhD in soil science.
