john a. powell | Othering and Belonging

    20/01/2026 | 1h 5 mins.
This week, Thomas sits down with law professor and Director of the Othering and Belonging Institute, john a. powell, for a deep examination of humans’ tendency to become divided, and how the narratives we construct around fearing other groups are actually a symptom of our fundamental drive for connection.
They explore how our capacity for connection and community, driven by culture and storytelling, can produce divisiveness, and how we can use these same capacities to increase our empathy for suffering, deepen our embodiment, and overcome the fear, anxiety, and disconnect that result from collective trauma.

This is a deep dive into the social and cultural drivers of disconnection, and an inspiring look at how we can tap into our spiritual and ancestral resources to bridge the divides that keep us stuck repeating the harmful patterns of the past.

Becoming Mature Global Citizens with Matthew Green

    13/01/2026 | 59 mins.
This week, Thomas is joined once again by journalist and co-host of the ā€œWhat is Collective Healing?ā€ podcast, Matthew Green, for a conversation exploring the idea of ā€œglobal acupuncture.ā€
    So what is global acupuncture?

It’s an approach to collective global healing that leverages our power as connected, social beings to skillfully address the roots of collective trauma at the most critical pressure points in our cultures and societies.

Thomas and Matthew discuss how humanity can transition from "adolescence" into mature citizenship by taking ownership of our shared history and integrating the "frozen" past stored within our collective nervous system. They share their hopes that, using these tools, we can turn a world of crisis into a place of global flourishing.

The Art of Transparent Communication [From the Archive]

    06/01/2026 | 33 mins.
This week, we revisit an early episode where Thomas explores the concept of Transparent Communication, a practice that creates an open and grounded relational space where constructive and creative communication can occur. He explains that this form of communication combines the interconnected data streams of cognitive, emotional, and physical information that are always present in any conversation.
When we become attuned to these transmissions from others' nervous systems, and are consciously creating coherent transmissions from our own, we can establish a deep connection that's rich in intimacy and free from reactivity.

Accessing Deeper States of Meditation with Susanne Ahlendorf & Martin Bruders

    30/12/2025 | 53 mins.
This week, Thomas is joined once again by his dear friends, longtime students, and meditation instructors Susanne Ahlendorf and Martin Bruders, for a conversation that unpacks both elemental and complex elements of the practice of meditation.
They break down the most essential spiritual components of meditation and how we can apply them to our own practice, at any experience level. Thomas shares insight on how to cultivate the ā€œbeginner’s mindā€ and harness our attention by releasing unhelpful expectations of what a ā€œgoodā€ practice should be.

They also discuss the crucial role of the body in meditation, and how we can learn to embrace life’s deepest and most difficult questions as our path to revelation.

Ross Gay | The Poetry of Joy and Connection

    23/12/2025 | 48 mins.
This week, Thomas sits down with acclaimed poet and author Ross Gay for a conversation on the intrinsic link between joy and sorrow, and the importance of finding delight in a world where doing so feels increasingly difficult.
Ross’ work is focused on finding joy through human connection, from kinship and ancestry to the profound and powerful connection we feel when we help each other carry our sorrows. In this way, sorrow serves as an unexpected source of delight, a fundamental element of life that illuminates the precarity of joy, and thus its potency.

Ross was also kind enough to share readings of some of his delightful poetry.
