After inheriting a massive Victorian estate and an extensive library from his estranged great-uncle Simon, twenty-three-year-old Danny discovers an untitled, occult book titled Nox Obscura that slowly infects his mind with vivid nightmare visions of flayed bodies, blue rooms filled with preserved human hearts, and a shape-shifting entity of raw flesh.
As the terrifying dreams bleed into his waking reality and erode his self-control, Danny uncovers his uncle’s diary, revealing that generations of his family have been harvested by the book's ancient, parasitic hunger to serve as vessels for its lingering entity.
Desperate and losing control of his own body, Danny summons his sister Mara to burn the artifact; she drenches the kitchen in gasoline and incinerates the book, causing a catastrophic explosion that destroys the dark tome and ultimately saves Danny, who wakes up recovering in a hospital alongside his bandaged sister.

While hiking a remote section of the Appalachian Trail along the North Carolina–Tennessee border, a hiker named Heiden and his best friend, Jared, are stalked by a sinister, supply-less stranger who claims to never leave the woods.
