60.3 The Remakes Tribunal: King Solomon's Mines, Flesh + Blood
Issue 60 of the monthly magazine podcast for the discerning film nerd continues with the Remakes Tribunal where we put bad filmmaking on trial. More 40th anniversary films feature, including the cheap and cheerful 1985 remake of King Solomon's Mines - does it deserve to exist, or should it be wiped from cinema history. Then we have a Parole Board for the same year's disastrous film by Paul Verhoeven and Rutger Hauer, Flesh + Blood. Would a remake fix its problems?
The first two parts of the issue are already out - Double Reel Monthly and Classics & Hidden Gems - and next week sees a Spotlight episode on Wes Anderson.

Issue 59 of the monthly magazine podcast for the discerning film nerd continues with the Remakes Tribunal, where we put bad filmmaking on trial. First up, we look at the 2004 reboot of this month's Classic, Flight of the Phoenix, and ask if it deserves to exist. The other parts of this issue are already out - Double Reel Monthly and Classics & Hidden Gems, and we will bring you a Spotlight in M Night Shyamalan next week.
The monthly magazine podcast for the discerning film nerd.
James Adamson is a slightly obsessive armchair fan, giving you his take on the world of cinema. So are his co hosts: James Adamson, his imaginatively named son, and Alan Bayles, a sci fi author, fellow film nerd and fellow Sunderland fan. As well as a look at news, new releases and how we’re fitting in movie watching with our busy exciting lives, we look into classic films we haven't seen yet and overlooked hidden gems you need to see, ask remakes to justify their existence or be wiped from history and offer parole hearings to bad films that need to be remade to fix their flaws.
