My guest today on Let’s Talk Robotics, is Kelsey Treloar. Kelsey is the Co-Founder and Director of Innovation at Southern Ocean Subsea, where he leads the development of advanced subsea robotics and engineered solutions for marine, aquaculture, and subsea infrastructure applications.
As a driving force behind the company, Kelsey has helped shape its vision and establish its position within Australia’s rapidly growing blue-tech sector. He leads technical innovation and engineering excellence, spearheading the design of cutting-edge remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and subsea systems built to solve real-world challenges in demanding underwater environments.
With a strong foundation in offshore oil and gas and aquaculture, Kelsey brings a practical, solutions-focused approach to subsea engineering. His work centres on developing custom robotics and tooling that enhance operational efficiency, improve safety, and support more sustainable practices across ocean industries.
Among his notable contributions is the Apama ROV platform, designed to deliver safer, smarter, and more efficient underwater inspection and maintenance operations.
Under his leadership, Southern Ocean Subsea has earned recognition for innovation and impact in the marine technology space, with Kelsey also named among Tasmania’s Top 20 Young Entrepreneurs for his role in advancing subsea robotics and ocean innovation.
