In its waning years, the Galactic Republic endured less like a golden age than a prolonged twilight, its ancient institutions still standing but riddled with unseen fractures. Corruption seeped into the Senate beneath layers of procedure and decorum, while corporate interests and regional power blocs bent law into currency.
