    In this episode we discuss Joelle's PhD project which will use non-invasive brain stimulation to improve memory, thinking and mood in ladies experiencing the late menopause transition. If successful these breakthrough treatments could also assist in mitigating future dementia risks. A MUST LISTEN!!A bit more about Joelle:Joelle is a Bachelor of Advanced Medical Science and Master of Research graduate from the NICM Health Research Institute, Western Sydney University. She has a background in Alzheimer's disease risk prediction and analytical biochemistry, and is currently a PhD candidate who is passionate about healthy ageing and female brain health. Joelle's PhD project will use non-invasive brain stimulation to improve memory, thinking, and mood in females experiencing the late menopause transition. Her aim is to advance our understanding of the underlying mechanisms that affect cognition and mood in menopause, and offer the potential for new non-invasive treatments to mitigate symptoms and future dementia risk. Further, Joelle has worked as a Research Assistant and Clinical Research Coordinator at the NICM Health Research Institute since 2019, under the supervision of cognitive neuroscientist Associate Professor Genevieve Steiner-Lim. During this time, Joelle has published 11 peer-reviewed journal articles, 8 book chapters, and 1 invited editorial, and has been awarded $217,000 in funding as an Associate Investigator.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
