The Vulnerability of Exhibiting with Australian Artist Tammy Whitworth

Daring Creatively: Unfiltered is an Australian art podcast where Sydney-based contemporary artist Korynn Morrison picks up the phone, drops a surprise topic into the conversation, and hits record.
In this episode Korynn calls Brisbane-based artist Tammy Whitworth, known for her extraordinarily intricate and illusionary miniature oil paintings that explore our connection to nature, energy and the universe. Tammy is currently showing alongside Zoe Sernack in Unearthed at Brenda Colahan Fine Art in Redfern, Sydney, closing August 25th. The surprise topic: what the vulnerability of exhibiting your work has taught you about yourself as an artist.
Tammy's paintings are unlike almost anything else in the Australian art landscape. Working at a scale so small and so precise that viewers press their noses up against them at openings, each tiny work asks something profound of the people who stand in front of it, to slow down, pull their energy back in, and get quiet. Which is exactly what this conversation does too.
In this warm honest conversation two artists talk about the vulnerability of sending your work out into the world after a year of working alone, why motherhood sent Tammy's paintings smaller and smaller until she realised that was exactly right, the painting called Unconditional and the extraordinary story of Charlotte the sheep, angel signs feathers and magpies and visions that come true, why your work requires the viewer to come home to themselves, creative boundaries and going into surgery, raising strong willed children while protecting sacred studio time, and what it would look like if art could wake people up to their own exponential potential.
Unearthed closes August 25th at Brenda Colahan Fine Art, Redfern Sydney. Go and ask Brenda for the magnifying glass.

Resigning From Stability: From Corporate Law to Full Time Artist with Rebecca Trajkovski

    03/08/2026 | 1h 11 mins.
    Send us Fan Mail
Daring Creatively: Unfiltered is an Australian art podcast where Sydney-based contemporary artist Korynn Morrison picks up the phone, drops a surprise topic into the conversation, and hits record.
This episode is a little different. No phone call today. Rebecca Trajkovski came to the studio, they sat on the lounge, ate sandwiches, and just talked. No mics. No agenda. Just two artists having the kind of honest conversation that happens when nobody is performing.
Rebecca Trajkovski is a Sydney-based artist whose work comments on consumer culture, status symbols and the wanting mind. After 15 years as a corporate lawyer she is now painting full time and launching Studio 529, a creative thinking company bringing play and creativity into corporate workplaces across Australia.
In this wonderfully unfiltered conversation two artists talk about leaving a 15 year legal career to back yourself as an artist, why your authentic story will always find its right audience, the satirical paintings that make people laugh out loud in front of her booth at art fairs, how she juggled law, three kids and art fairs for years before making the leap, the internal voice and why you would never let a boss speak to you the way you sometimes speak to yourself, why doing things slowly and strategically is actually the bravest approach, Studio 529 and why adults desperately need a place to play, and why art is less about finding your voice and more about eventually stopping making a painting and starting to reveal yourself.
Rebecca also had the best title idea for this episode. We went with it.
If you love art podcasts, honest conversations about the real creative life, or you are someone sitting in a corporate job wondering if you could ever make the leap, this one is for you.

Developing Creative Grit With Artist Korynn Morrison

    28/07/2026 | 38 mins.
    Send us Fan Mail
Daring Creatively: Unfiltered is an Australian art podcast where Sydney-based contemporary artist Korynn Morrison picks up the phone, drops a surprise topic into the conversation, and hits record.
But today is a little different. Today Korynn is talking directly to you.
Pull out a notebook. Imagine she is sitting right next to you. Because this episode is not coming from Korynn the expert, it's coming from Korynn in the trenches, doing the exact same thing you are doing.
Today's topic is creative grit. And it keeps coming up everywhere, in coaching sessions, at openings, in every conversation she is having right now. So something needed to come out.
In this solo episode Korynn talks about why grit is the one thing that no market downturn, no budget crisis, and no struggling art industry can take from you, the formula for grit and the two very different kinds of passion that drive it, why harmonious passion and obsessive passion are not the same thing and which one is actually serving you, why the only way to develop grit is through failure and why that is actually good news, the gymnast story that explains everything, her What If journal and how she uses it every single morning to flip her thinking, waking up at 2am wanting to unpack the crate before sending her work overseas, and why if you are failing right now you are absolutely right on track.
This one will light a fire underneath you. Consider yourself warned.
If you are an artist who needs a reminder that every failure is just another brick in the wall of your creative life, this episode is for you.

How Showing Up With Joy Opens Creative Doors with Australian Artist Nic Everist

    13/07/2026 | 1h 6 mins.
    Send us Fan Mail
Daring Creatively: Unfiltered is an Australian art podcast where Sydney-based contemporary artist Korynn Morrison picks up the phone, drops a surprise topic into the conversation, and hits record.
In this episode Korynn calls Victoria-based landscape artist Nic Everist — and this one is a little special because they are meeting for the very first time on this call. Nic is the creator of the 100 Tree Project, founder of Tree Club, and one of those rare humans who just radiates genuine joy and creative abundance wherever she goes. The surprise topic: why giving generously and showing up with genuine joy opens creative doors.
Nic's story is one of the most honest and inspiring Korynn has heard. From quitting physiotherapy to follow a creative pull she couldn't ignore, to painting fluid portraits in her backyard, to travelling South America and painting 100 trees in 100 days during Wednesday night Instagram lives while her babies slept upstairs — every single step of her journey has been led by curiosity, grit and an unwavering belief that she would be painting forever.
In this warm unplanned conversation two artists meeting for the first time talk about why giving generously is actually a creative superpower, the 100 Tree Project and how it sold out before the exhibition even opened, how Tree Club is helping plant 5000 trees on her family farm, painting through postpartum by going live on Instagram every Wednesday night, why belief and common sense are the only two things a creative business needs, the fear of failure and how to build the muscle to move through it, and why your art will always lead you exactly where you need to be if you let it.
If you love art podcasts, conversations about the real creative life, or you are an artist who needs a reminder that showing up with joy is enough — this one will fill your cup right up.

Coaching and Creative Freedom with Australian Artist & Creative Coach Ros Gervay

    06/07/2026 | 52 mins.
    Send us Fan Mail
Daring Creatively: Unfiltered is an Australian art podcast where Sydney-based contemporary artist Korynn Morrison picks up the phone, drops a surprise topic into the conversation, and hits record.
In this episode Korynn calls Sydney-based contemporary artist, business coach for creatives, and host of the Paint Rest Repeat podcast, Ros Gervay. Ros has supported thousands of artists through her coaching, membership and online communities, helping them build more sustainable and fulfilling creative businesses. The surprise topic: what sitting with other artists has revealed about your own creative blocks.
This one felt personal. Because when you spend your days helping other artists move through their blocks, it raises a very honest question — what are you still not doing for yourself?
In this unfiltered conversation two artists and coaches talk about the difference between holding space for a client's journey and reflecting on your own, why Ros deliberately keeps her coaching practice and her art practice separate, creative freedom and joy as the only real definition of success, why having multiple income streams means her art is never under financial pressure, going through a little art funk herself and what she is doing with that, the importance of self trust over following someone else's system, and why there is no one right way to build a creative life.
If you love art podcasts, conversations about the creative process, or you are an artist trying to figure out how to balance making work with building a sustainable creative business, this one is for you.
