How Showing Up With Joy Opens Creative Doors with Australian Artist Nic Everist

Daring Creatively: Unfiltered is an Australian art podcast where Sydney-based contemporary artist Korynn Morrison picks up the phone, drops a surprise topic into the conversation, and hits record.
In this episode Korynn calls Victoria-based landscape artist Nic Everist — and this one is a little special because they are meeting for the very first time on this call. Nic is the creator of the 100 Tree Project, founder of Tree Club, and one of those rare humans who just radiates genuine joy and creative abundance wherever she goes. The surprise topic: why giving generously and showing up with genuine joy opens creative doors.
Nic's story is one of the most honest and inspiring Korynn has heard. From quitting physiotherapy to follow a creative pull she couldn't ignore, to painting fluid portraits in her backyard, to travelling South America and painting 100 trees in 100 days during Wednesday night Instagram lives while her babies slept upstairs — every single step of her journey has been led by curiosity, grit and an unwavering belief that she would be painting forever.
In this warm unplanned conversation two artists meeting for the first time talk about why giving generously is actually a creative superpower, the 100 Tree Project and how it sold out before the exhibition even opened, how Tree Club is helping plant 5000 trees on her family farm, painting through postpartum by going live on Instagram every Wednesday night, why belief and common sense are the only two things a creative business needs, the fear of failure and how to build the muscle to move through it, and why your art will always lead you exactly where you need to be if you let it.
If you love art podcasts, conversations about the real creative life, or you are an artist who needs a reminder that showing up with joy is enough — this one will fill your cup right up.

Coaching and Creative Freedom with Australian Artist & Creative Coach Ros Gervay

    Send us Fan Mail
Daring Creatively: Unfiltered is an Australian art podcast where Sydney-based contemporary artist Korynn Morrison picks up the phone, drops a surprise topic into the conversation, and hits record.
In this episode Korynn calls Sydney-based contemporary artist, business coach for creatives, and host of the Paint Rest Repeat podcast, Ros Gervay. Ros has supported thousands of artists through her coaching, membership and online communities, helping them build more sustainable and fulfilling creative businesses. The surprise topic: what sitting with other artists has revealed about your own creative blocks.
This one felt personal. Because when you spend your days helping other artists move through their blocks, it raises a very honest question — what are you still not doing for yourself?
In this unfiltered conversation two artists and coaches talk about the difference between holding space for a client's journey and reflecting on your own, why Ros deliberately keeps her coaching practice and her art practice separate, creative freedom and joy as the only real definition of success, why having multiple income streams means her art is never under financial pressure, going through a little art funk herself and what she is doing with that, the importance of self trust over following someone else's system, and why there is no one right way to build a creative life.
If you love art podcasts, conversations about the creative process, or you are an artist trying to figure out how to balance making work with building a sustainable creative business, this one is for you.

Releasing Resistance in the Creative Process: Residency Debrief with Phoebe Stone

    29/06/2026 | 1h 4 mins.
    Send us Fan Mail
Daring Creatively: Unfiltered is an Australian art podcast where Sydney-based contemporary artist Korynn Morrison picks up the phone, drops a surprise topic into the conversation, and hits record.
This episode is a little different. There is no surprise topic today. Phoebe Stone and Korynn were both at The Corridor Project residency together recently and this is their debrief — the kind of honest, unplanned conversation that only happens when two artists have just spent a week making work side by side in the middle of nowhere.
Phoebe Stone is a Sydney-based artist known for her expressive, intuitive depictions of domestic life. Through urgent and immediate mark making she renders the intimate and the everyday, translating feeling and memory into form with a desire to hold onto beauty and fleeting experience. She has exhibited widely across Australia and internationally and has a solo show opening at Hake House on July 11th and work heading to Paris in September.
In this deeply honest conversation two artists talk about what the residency cracked open, the one sentence Phoebe said to Korynn that she has not stopped thinking about since, what happens when you release all resistance and just play, working intuitively with no plan and no agenda, frottage on rocks and happy accidents in the landscape, why raw unfiltered mark making carries a pulse that polished work sometimes doesn't, accidentally becoming an artist after leaving interior design, the pressure artists put on themselves to produce cohesive bodies of work and why that can get in the way, and what it actually feels like when you give yourself permission to just show up and respond.
If you love art podcasts, conversations about the creative process, or you have ever felt resistance creeping into your practice and wondered how to release it, this one is for you.

Developing Consistency Within a Creative Practice with Zoe Sernack

    22/06/2026 | 1h 11 mins.
    Send us Fan Mail
Daring Creatively: Unfiltered is an Australian art podcast where Sydney-based contemporary artist Korynn Morrison picks up the phone, drops a surprise topic into the conversation, and hits record.
In this episode Korynn calls Sydney-based contemporary artist Zoe Sernack. Through layering, obscuring, revealing and reworking, each piece evolves as a visual conversation between structure and spontaneity. The surprise topic: developing consistency within a creative practice.
Zoe is one of those artists that Korynn has watched from a distance for years, consistently showing up, consistently getting into prizes, consistently getting her work in front of people. So this conversation was always going to go somewhere good.
In this honest unplanned conversation two artists talk about what consistency actually looks like in a real creative life, why showing up for even 10 minutes counts, how motherhood made Zoe more laser focused not less, the happy mistakes that have become central to her layered process, teaching workshops interstate every month and what that gives back to her own practice, and the Nepean Hospital commission — a major redevelopment project that Zoe is talking about publicly for the very first time in this episode.
She also has an exhibition opening at Brenda Colahan Fine Arts in Redfern on August 13th.
If you love art podcasts, conversations about the real creative life, or you are an artist trying to figure out how to show up more consistently for your practice, this one is for you.

Filling Your Creative Well: Ana Young on Residencies and Abstract Painting

    15/06/2026 | 1h 1 mins.
    Send us Fan Mail
Daring Creatively: Unfiltered is an Australian art podcast where Sydney-based contemporary artist Korynn Morrison picks up the phone, drops a surprise topic into the conversation, and hits record.
In this episode Korynn calls Sydney-based abstract artist Ana Young — one of Australia's most compelling painters whose practice explores time, memory and silence. The surprise topic: residencies.
This conversation came at the perfect time. Korynn is about to head off on her own artist residency at The Corridor Project in Central West NSW and needed exactly the kind of grounded, honest wisdom that only Ana could give. What followed was one of the most practical and deeply inspiring conversations about what a residency actually is, what it is not, and how to get the most out of being in a completely new landscape with nothing to prove and nowhere to be.
In this honest unplanned conversation two artists talk about Ana's recent residency at Lake Macquarie and what she brought back from it, why a residency is about recording and investigating not producing, how to simplify what you are looking at when a landscape overwhelms you, why going in with no research and no expectations is the best thing you can do, the installations Ana made from found materials and how they surprised even her, working with gouache in the field and why it is the most forgiving medium you can take outside, the importance of finding just one thing in a landscape and really staying with it, and why curiosity is the thing that keeps a practice alive long after technical skill has been mastered.
If you love art podcasts, have ever considered doing an artist residency, or simply want to hear an honest conversation about what it really means to slow down and fill your creative well, this one is for you.
