  • Michael Kemp - Avoiding the Rocks of Investing Under-Performance | Repeat Episode
Repeat Episode. Have been busy this week at the ASA QLD Invstor Summit on the Gold Coast. Saw Michael Kemp again and thought that this episode bore a repeat for all of the great investing insights. What does an epic poem written around 700BC tell us about investing? How are investors tempted to steer their money onto the rocks of investing underperformance? My guest is Michael Kemp, author of The Ulysses Contract. There's plenty of great lessons in this interview & much more in the book. There's a lot to avoid but as Michael says: "Don't be discouraged by all the negative arguments I'm putting forth. I don't believe you need to become a champion to become a really good investor. Market returns are fantastic returns as long as you achieve them. Don't try and shoot for the stars cuz you're probably full flat on your face. But if you accept that you're gonna be delivered market returns and you are patient, then market returns can be spectacular returns given the power of compounding."Blog post available at: https://www.sharesforbeginners.com/blog/ulysses📈 CHECK OUT THESE INVESTING TOOLS: 🌎 Level up your investing with Sharesight, Investopedia’s #1 portfolio tracker for DIY investors. About Shares for Beginners

We're all investors in the share market, either directly or through our superannuation. We're handing over management of our assets to financial advisors and fund managers. The best will look after our interests and make us wealthier. But how can we know for sure? Where do you go if you're completely new but want to start learning about investing in the markets yourself. The jargon is dense and it can feel like we're being kept deliberately in the dark. In Shares for Beginners, you'll hear from people in the finance industry and together we'll explain key concepts of investing in the ASX, the NASDAQ, S&P500, FTSE and Dow. More importantly, they have insights that allow us to look under the hood of the stock market, explaining how it works and what to look out for. We have to be smart. We have to be diversified and we have to have good risk management strategies if we want to invest for the long term. For more Information go to: https://www.sharesforbeginners.com/How is your superannuation linked to the Australian & US stock markets?
