    In this episode, Ben Azadi breaks down what really happens inside the body during a 3-day water fast and why this strategy can be powerful for improving insulin resistance and metabolic health.

    Ben explains that insulin is not the enemy. It is a hormone that signals the body to store energy. However, when insulin stays elevated for long periods due to frequent eating and high carbohydrate intake, it blocks fat burning and contributes to metabolic dysfunction.

    The episode walks through the three metabolic phases of a 72-hour fast.

    During the first 24 hours, the body mainly uses stored glycogen for energy while insulin levels begin to decline.

    Between 24 and 48 hours, the body shifts toward fat burning and ketone production, allowing the brain and body to run more efficiently on fat for fuel.

    By the third day, insulin levels drop significantly and deeper processes begin, including increased fat burning and cellular repair through autophagy.
