  • Glen Fisher - a courageous survivor
CONTENT WARNING:-CHILD CRUELTY & SEXUAL ABUSE:is discussed very openly in this podcast. PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS WARNING LIGHTLY. Glen does not hold back from detailing the incomprehensible violence he suffered as a child. Glen Fisher used his time whilst incarcerated to change his life for the better as he was on the road to nowhere. He was told he would amount to nothing & would be dead by 21. He made a promise to those who told him he'd amount to nothing He was placed into the care of those he thought & hoped would protect him, but it was like a lamb to the slaughter.Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800Blue Knot Foundation 1300 657 380 for survivors of complex trauma1800 RESPECT 1800 737 732 for sexual assault, domestic & family violenceAustralian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation 1800 272 831 support to those affected by child sexual abuseThe Orange Door for the wellbeing of children & young people Safesteps 1800 015 188Victims of Crime 1800 819 817 or text 0427 767 891Rainbow Door 1800 729 367 specialist advicer for LGBTIQA people, their friends & familyChild Protection 13 12 78Sexual Assault Crisis Line 1800 806 292 Hosted on Acast. • Melanie Cage - a respected Policewoman's decision became her undoing
Todays podcast is longer than normal but waiting a fortnight for Part2 was, I thought, too long, so here it is in its entirity.Melanie has been drawn to helping those in trouble since she was a teenager. Prior to joining NSW Police, she was a volunteer at her local (NSW) Rescue Squad (part of the Volunteer Rescue Association) & after being part of the rescue effort @ the Thredbo Ski Village disaster in 1997,policing was her obvious next step. Mel retired after dealing with the consequences of a silly decision she made but which many of us might consider also, given the same circumstances. Even after Policing, Mel still helps save people in distress through the Good Samaritan App - something Victoria needs desperately.. .. . Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • Paul Majda - Gaining respect as a Policeman on a mission in the N.T.
Paul took an opportunity to do something different after policing in the Northern Territory for 5yrs. He took up a role policing one of the most remote missions in the N.T. By the end of his tenure, he had gained the respect of the community but the community also had gained Paul's respect. It was an experience which changed him forever. What he achieved is heart-warming stuff..... Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • John Cardamone - The importance of being believed
John Cardamone was only 6yo when he began to think of ways to avoid his abuser - a family relative. He didn't know how & who to tell, but at 8yo he found the courage to tell his mum & it was her understanding response which changed his life (for the better). John's disclosure to his mum demonstrates the importance of kids being believed when they decide to disclose something so very troubling. . . Hosted on Acast. • Courtney Herron - a life cut short
Courtney Herron's father John, shares a story which is unimagineably painful - the senseless murder of his daughter by a man who should never have been out in the community unmonitored, due to his mental health status. Her killer had been released from custody only weeks earlier, with no supervision or monitoring, even though he'd violently attacked another young woman who unlike Courtney, had survived. He was just left to do what he liked, when he liked, disregarding & ignoring reporting requirements by the authorities, with no consequences. Hosted on Acast.
