Business can be infused with community care, and Emily Williamson is living proof! In today's episode, I'm chatting with them about the evolution of their beautiful, heart-led business, Emily the Meal Dealer. The business grew out of their work as a doula where they realised how much they loved caring for people through cooking. When their marriage broke down, Emily found themself as a single parent, and driven by the desire to support themself and their kids, took a deeper dive into their business. Emily shares so generously about the realities of caring work, the tension between charging for something you’d do for free, and how they’ve found a way to weave community, compassion and practicality into their business model.I love hearing about business owners that have managed to integrate generosity and giving back in a sustainable way. So I really enjoyed this chat, and I'm sure you will too! Connect with Emily:Find them on instagram @emily.the.meal.dealerLet's Connect!I'd love to hear from you. When Feminism betrays itself
I've had these words rolling around my brain for a little while now: feminism has utterly betrayed itself. This statement from Randa Abdel-Fattah at a recent panel on Feminism in the time of Gaza really cut through. It brought on a wave of reflection. A kind of reckoning with myself. In today's episode, we explore what happens when a movement with equality at its heart, fails to live up to its own ideology. And more specifically, what that means for those of us who consider ourselves to be feminists. This isn't just about the 'feminist movement'. It's about me, a feminist, taking an honest look at myself, my beliefs and my actions.I share what I'm unlearning, where I've found my own blind spots, and invite you to join me in grappling with some (possibly uncomfortable) questions for yourself.Let's Connect!I'd love to hear from you. Wholesome Business: A framework for good
What if your business could be good for you, good for the people around you, and good for the world? In this episode, I’m sharing the heart of what I call Wholesome Business - a simple but powerful lens for building a business (and a life) that feels nourishing, sustainable, and deeply aligned with your values. We explore what it means for a business to truly serve its founder (that’s you), to care for the people connected with it - from partners to team to clients - and to play a part in making the world better.I share examples from my own businesses, and how it's an ever-changing blend.Whether you’re building something new, checking in on your established business, or reflecting on your life more broadly, this episode will help you explore and blossom into something really good (as defined by you).🌿 Mentioned:Pay The RentDjirra Victoria (https://djirra.org.au)The Orchard – my business mentoring programLet's Connect!I'd love to hear from you.
