Haftu Strintzos - #160
This episode is brought to you by Shokz
The episode kicks off with plenty of random life updates from the three hosts before Joel takes the listeners on a deeper dive into exactly what FTK has planned while they're up in Sydney.
TRAINING WEEKS

Tess training week is interrupted constantly by Jack and Joel, yet many of their questions are left unanswered. Despite all the travel Tess manages to get some decent training in as she prepares for Berlin Marathon. Jack takes us through his last week in Hoyos as altitude/cabin fever has well and truly set in. For the first time this year we decide to leave one of Jack's audio drop-outs in so the listeners can understand the chaos that happens behind the scenes. Joel closes out the segment updating the listeners on where he's at with his stress fracture and shares a very frustrating health-insurance related story.
HAFTU STRINTZOS INTERVIEW
As explained on the episode we decided to skip The Big Q this week as we didn't want our conversation with Haftu to be lost in a sea of typical FTK ridiculousness. Brett and Joel chat with Haftu about his disappointing last marathon attempt, returning from injury and he shares the changes he's made for this marathon block to give him the best chance of success on race-day. Oh and did we mention he does all his training solo? Not too many world class runners train that way.
GIVE SOME KUDOS

Tess gives her kudos to one of the most absurd things she's ever chosen which leads to plenty of laughs from Jack and Joel. Jack boasts about his newfound love for porridge which leads to a lengthy and unnecessary yarn from Joel about how he hates breakfast food. To close out the segment Joel gives his kudos to the elusive FTK hoodie that will be dropping soon. The hoodie we released two years ago sold like hotcakes (if they're considered breakfast food Joel wouldn't like them), so we are convinced these will move just as fast.
TWHSOITWTWATSA

Tess uncovers an upload from the Trail Kings Podcast while Jack throws shade towards a track produced in support of / in honour of / in protest of (we aren't sure) Fred Kerley. Joel closes out the segment and one of our longest episodes ever with a hilarious video of an AI martian that a man befriends in his apartment using virtual reality (you have to see it to believe it).

TRAINING WEEKS

Joel shares some heartbreaking news with the listeners but tries his best to shed a positive light on a bad situation. Tess does another strange week of running which leads to a discussion on her self-coached choices. Jack continues his progress in Spain as he prepared for a big 5000m.
THE BIG Q

Friend Of The Show Cal Christopher sends in a question about racing season vs off season and how each period should be approached differently.
GIVE SOME KUDOS

Joel sends his Kudos to Melbourne's best Osteo while Jack shouts out the freshly faced FTK youtube channel (he wasn't paid to say this). Tess sends hers to another running product (maybe she is getting paid to say this).
TWHSOITWTWATSA

Joel isn't sure about an Ibiza Final Boss with a Toad-like haircut. Jack sends hate towards a pregnancy reveal of a running couple and Tess closes out the segment with an indoor shopping centre marathon.

TRAINING WEEKS

Tess is back in Europe and returning to training as she discusses her Berlin Marathon goals with the listeners. Jack returns to three sessions and Joel completes his best workout in a long time...which should be happy news.
THE BIG Q

The team discuss how to approach training for a marathon when your goal finishing time is around 4 hours.
GIVE SOME KUDOS

Tess gives Kudos to a book she's reading, Jack sends his to a show (something running related - can you believe it?), while Joel shouts out a Melbourne restaurant.
TWHSOITWTWATSA

Joel isn't sure about a social media story from the Sunshine Coast Marathon while Tess questions a recent post from Andy Buchanan. Jack isn't sure about a recent 5000m performance from "you know who" and the episode closes out with a story of disaster from Joel's weekend.
